Neptune
The Neptune (Cloud based payment solution) was developed to simplify the process of merchants integrating with take payments card machines, it offers a single REST API which allows quick and simple integration with payment terminals from multiple vendors.
Benefits of the system
Unified API: Neptune offers a single API that seamlessly communicates with various card machines from different vendors. This means you don't need to develop or manage multiple integrations, saving time and reducing complexity.
Plug-and-Play: The integration process is straightforward and user-friendly, allowing businesses to quickly connect their POS system with Neptune without extensive technical knowledge.
Minimal Development Effort: As Neptune is designed to work with different card machines without additional development from your end, it significantly reduces the burden on your IT resources.
Reduced Errors: Automated transaction handling minimizes the risk of manual input errors, ensuring accuracy in every sale.
Real-time Data: Payment data is instantly shared with the POS system, providing up-to-date information for better financial management and reporting.
Reliable Performance: Designed to be robust and dependable, ensuring consistent performance even during peak business hours.
Development of the system began in 2021 with the first customers being onboarded within 6 months, the system has proven to be robust, scalable and incredibly easy to integrate with.
Gareth Winterton CEO of Hospitality Digital Services has this to say about the integrated payment platform
My Involvement
I was involved in this project from the outset, working in conjunction with the Takepayments team to design and build the system. We opted to use Azure cloud services for the entire system which enabled us to create a fast and secure API for the customers to interface with along with a scalable backend allowing for error free, fast communication with the termianls.
With this system merchants are freed from the burden of having dedicated hardware on site to manage their sales, their ePOS can be anything, an Android or iOS app, a web site running on a phone, PC, iPad or a dedicated ePOS system - regardless how the manage their sales or what terminals they use to take payments , the integration remains the same - this is a huge benefit for small retailers who do not want the functionality of a large dedicated system without the cost and complexity.
Other Projects
During my time at Takepayments I was also involved in the following projects
Business funding, this project saw us create a web based portal allowing merchants to apply for funding via multiple funding providers, the project was hugely successful and quickly became the de-facto way for Takepayments to handle all of their funding applications.
PayPages (Web based payment gateway) This system hooks into the Mercury back end allowing merchants to take payments via their web based shopping carts with all of their transactions being available in real time in both the Mercury Merchant Portal and via the API.
Accounting This project linked the mercury backend with Xero and Clearbooks via their APIs allowing real-time reporting of the merchants transactions directly in their accounting software.
